Founded in the late 1940's by talented car designer Ferdinand Porsche, Porsche Cars have grown to become one the best loved and most successful sportscar manufacturers in the world. From its humble VW based beginnings the basic Porsche design has evolved through air-cooled "flat six" engined 911 models to the latest water cooled 996 (911) and highly acclaimed Boxter.

As well as its famous 911 design Porsche has also been successful with more conventional designs such as the four cylinder 924, the powerful 944, 968 and V8 engined 928 models. Other less well known (in the UK anyway) models included the VW/Porsche 914 and 911 look-alike 912 (which used the old four cylinder, 356 engine).
