There was evidently a market for a credible Jaguar E-Tyle Roadster replica in the 1980s. The Challenger was the first such attempt but initially it used Cortina parts, so authenticity suffered. It grew closer to the original specification after a Jaguar-based chassis was launched in 1986 with optional Rover V8 or Ford V6 power.
