Overview

French manufacturer Simca was founded in 1934 by H.T. Pigozzi to build licence-built Fiat models for the domestic market. In 1951 Simca launched its own completely new car the Aronde which was an instant success.

The success of the Aronde led to Simca taking control of other French manufacturers including Unic, Talbot and Ford France. By 1958 US giant Chrysler had acquired a stake in Simca and took a controlling interest in 1963, renaming it Chrysler France in 1970. Sadly by 1981 the company name had completely disappeared.
