Since 1977, Aldo has been a highly successful maker following the usual Brazilian pattern: a fibreglass body on a VW floor pan. Its cars are sold under the name 'Miura'. At first coupes and sports cars were based on the Beetle chassis but in 1982 came the 'Targa', a coupe on the VW Passat floor pan. An open version followed in 1983 and the following year the similarly based 'Saga', in coupe or open form, joined the range, soon complemented by a 2+2 version. In 1988 saw the X8, with the option of a 2 litre VW (Santan) engine, which could also be turbocharged, while those exported to the USA had 2 litre Ford engines. A further update, the 'Top Sport', followed in 1989.
