Founded by a Mr White, the Bifort company made a light car with imported engine and chassis. The 1327cc 10.4hp 4-cylinder engine came from Belgium and the chassis from Maubeuge in Northern France, probably supplied by S.U.P. The bodies were made at the works. The Bifort was said to be popular with naval officers, but few were made because of the outbreak of World War I. White later formed Duple Motor Bodies at Hornsey, North London, in 1919, initially making bodies convertible from car to van hence the name from duplex, dual purpose. They later became famous for bus bodies at Hendon, Middlesex and are still in business today as Hestair Duple at Blackpool.
