Overview

Scarab was the business of Lance Reventlow, son of American millionairess Barbara Hutton who was married to the former owner of Woolworth Stores.  Reventlow started building sports and racing cars in 1958  and even had one attempt with a Grand Prix car.  Scarab cars were powered by converted Chevrolet V-8 engines and the final ones of 1962 had the engine mounted in front of the rear axle.

Reventlow was killed, aged 37, in an aircraft crash on July 26, 1972.
