I have owned this car for 8 years having owned a number of older Mercedes includng a rare 500SLC. As a member of the Mercedes Benz Club I had always been drawn to these cars which were very much of their period and of course were owned by the gliteratti of their time such as Peter Sellars. They continue to be style icons in my view but are easily capable of keeping up with modern traffic conditions making them very usable on todays congested roads. When I bought the car there were severe rust issues and through a professional restorer we have undertaken a rolling restoration which culminated in a complete respray last year and a lot of re-chroming returning here to her former glory.
We use the car for the Goodwood Revival each year and it has been a fixture on the Lavant Bank picnic area every September for about the last 5 years.
The 220 SEb is a pleasure to own. Parts are realtively easy to come by (with the exception of trim parts which are like hens teeth) although they can be expensive. These 1960s Copes are easy to drive and wherever you go people always want to know about the car such is its charm. A great way to meet fellow enthusiasts.
