Porsche 912 Limited Edition
Overview

After the successful 356 Porsche introduced the new shaped 911 in 1965 but this was expensive. Porsches answer was to put the engine from the 356SC in to the 911 body and call it the 912; this came towards the end of 1965 when 356 production was phased out. With better aerodynamics the SC engine was slightly de-tuned. Improvements came steadily as with other Porsche models. In 1966 the track was widened, 1967 had safety door locks, and the carpeting was upgraded. Generally speaking all running changes made to the 911 were made to the 912 at the same time. The 912 engine suffered from being just another Volkswagen but it was not and needed all the care of a Porsche engine. The 912 was phased out at the end of 1969 to make way for the 914. This is a book of contemporary road and comparison tests, specification and technical data, new model introductions, development, long-term appraisals, owners survey, retrospective. Models covered include:- Targa, Coup, 912E. 92 pages. 200 illus SB.
