Porsche had to make quite a few alterations to comply with US emissions laws and in 1974 changed their model line-up. The 911T became the 911, the 911E the 911S and in place of the 911S was the Carrera. An increase in engine size helped improve performance. Bumpers were put on the body for safety requirements. Increase in engine size from 2.4 to 2.7-litres with low emissions and on the cheapest fuel was well received.
