Porsche 911 1973-77
Overview

Porsche had to make quite a few alterations to comply with US emissions laws and in 1974 changed their model line-up. The 911T became the 911, the 911E the 911S and in place of the 911S was the Carrera. An increase in engine size helped improve performance. Bumpers were put on the body for safety requirements. Porsches methods of steadily developing their cars over a period of time kept journalists enthusing about their products. Increase in engine size from 2.4 to 2.7-litres with low emissions and on the cheapest fuel was well received. Body changes were subtle with tidying up of bumpers for the American market and the Targa body. The Turbo introduced in 1975 was Germanys fastest road car. This is a book of contemporary road and comparison tests, technical and specification data, new model introductions, racing, touring, long-term tests, drivers impressions. Models covered include:- 911, 911S, Carrera, 911T, RS Touring, RS, Targa, 2.4, 2.7, Automatic, RS 3.0, Turbo, 911 Lux, Turbo Carrera. 100 pages, 250 illus. SB.
