Japanese Grand Prix Racing Motorcycles
Our price: £18.85
On the surface it appeared that the Japanese suddenly became proficient in the design and construction of motorcycles at the end of the 1950s. But in fact, their technical expertise had been gathered over several decades. Initially the Japanese were accused of blatant plagiarism, but very soon Japanese designers were producing highly innovative machinery. They had a special talent for reacting quickly to problems as they arose. In the 1960s Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha battled for domination in world motorcycle racing, and provided a shot in the arm for a struggling sport since the withdrawal of the British and Italian factories in the1950s. The Japanese contribution to Grand Prix racing was paramount in the 1960s and 1970s with many famous riders. These were the golden years of Japanese participation, every factory was involved, also great riders, great machines and some fantastic racing. Nowadays political correctness, environmental issues and of course financial constraints dominate, so what is the future for Grand Prix racing? A look back at how it all used to be is therefore perhaps a good idea, and Japanese Grand Prix Racing Motorcycles sets out to provide just that. Soft bound. Size 280mm x 210mm over 500 pictures in colour and black & white. 204 pages.
