The E23 7 Series may not be BMW’s most memorable model but, in its day, it was the benchmark for other executive machines. Brooklands Books has just published a tome to celebrate the model. Its 140 pages contain 37 road tests from 1977 to the model’s demise in 1986. Included are the carburated 728 and 730 through to the range-stopping 735i. Road tests on the rarer examples, such as the Alpina B10 and the turbocharged 745i, provide interest, as does a guide to buying a used E23. A must for 7 Series fans.
