Introduced in 1976 it was not long before a ’hot’ Fiesta appeared. Initially they were mildly-tuned Supersport models but in 1981 Ford launched the XR2. It soon turned into another best-seller. Over the years it changed, of course, having fuel injection in 1989 and being turbocharged in 1990; but the XR2i and RS Turbo have remained best-sellers.
