Jaguar XJ6 2.8/3.4/4.2 Series II

Jaguar refreshed its six cylinder XJ saloon range in 1973 with the introduction of the XJ6 Series II. The new car featured a sleeker new body shell which had a slimmer front grille, new front air intake below the bumper, new lights and a revised interior. At first the short and long wheel base versions were available, however all cars carried the long wheel base after 1975.

Power plant options included the original line-up of 2.8 litre (export only), 4.2 litre and, from 1975, 3.4 litre, six cylinder versions of the XK series engine. Unfortunately during the 1970's Jaguar became a victim of the poor quality, strike ridden British Leyland empire. Despite a loyal following sales became to suffer as a result a replacement was needed by 1979, the Series III.

Today these graceful, powerful saloons are becoming increasingly collectable and are gaining their deserved respect at last.
