Lancia added a further development of its Beta saloon to its range in 1975, the Beta HPE. The Beta HPE was essentially a sporting two door estate, along the same lines of the successful Scimitar and Jensen-Healey built in Britain.

The HPE shared its simple running gear with the rest of the Beta range, including the twin overhead cam, four cylinder engines which came in both 1585cc and 1995cc format. Like the other Beta models the HPE featured a well balanced front wheel drive layout and the later addition of a supercharged "Volumex" variant in 1983.
