The Daimler Majestic was replaced in 1968 by the Daimler Limousine but this was also built with Jaguar components. This old-fashioned and very conservative model had sufficient room for eight people. The Daimler 2.5 litre V-8 car was available to order until 1991 but true Daimlers had long since disappeared. Jaguar (and therefore also Daimler) was taken over in 1990 by Ford. The American company was more interested in earning money than tradition so that although the Daimler marque still exists, it is nothing more than a Jaguar with a different emblem. Despite this many British owners who would never buy a Jaguar continue to buy Daimlers because of their associations.
