Lamborghini Countach LP500/LP500S QV

Italian tractor manufacturer, Lamborghini, its replacement for the outrageous Miura in 1974, the equally impressive Countach. Like the Miura the Countach blended a quad-cam V12 engine with futuristic styling, this time incorporating its own unique "Gull-wing" doors that opened vertically.

The Countach became an instant legend almost overnight. Claims of it being the fastest production car in the world and a totally impractical interior (the windows could only open a few inches and rearward visibility was virtually nil) just added to the mystique of the Countach.

In 1982 the Countach received a larger, 5167cc, V12 which developed more torque. As well as the new engine the Countach, (now the LP500) also received larger air-vents and an optional rear "Wing" spoiler to boost the cars ostentatious image! From 1985 the car became the LP500QV thanks to the introduction of a four valve per cylinder head arrangement, a top speed of 200mph was claimed.
