Between 1978-1980 a small number of Rover V8 powered TR7 Coupes were produced for competition, homologation purposes. These impressively quick cars were rallied with some success for 3 seasons by British Leyland in special tarmac rallies.
Individual specifications varied from car-to-car some had over 300bhp and all used modified 3.5 litre Rover V8 engines. Standard specification included wide alloy wheels, all-round disc brakes and a 5 speed gearbox.
