The Belvedere was the most expensive Plymouth and the convertible the highest priced Belvedere, costing $2,281 compared with $1,933 for a four-door sedan. The six-cylinder side-valve engine had a capacity of 3,569 cc with an output of 101 bhp (SAE) at 3,600 rpm, it was no performance car it was really too little for a 1 1/2 ton car. The three-speed gearbox had no synchromesh for first gear. When the Belvedere got a new body the sale shot up once more.
