Citroen Rosalie 8A (Ten) Tourer I purchased the car in November 1971 in almost complete but sad condition and restored it slowly over the next 8 years. I did most of the work myself including the paint and interior trim. The fabric top was done professionally (you can tell by the puckers running the full length). I used it quite a lot on Club rallies for many years alternating it with my 1940 Austin 10 sedan. There have been a number of problems over the years but none were unsurmountable. I firstly painted it using nitrocelluose lacquer as would have been used originally. However, over the years the paint discoloured so 5 years ago repainted it in acrylic lacquer. On both occasions I used the original colour scheme. There are not many Rosalies in Australia most in "going to restore sometime" condition. All except mine are sedans and only one is in running condition. The Rosalies in Australia are unique in that they have their main mechanical components made in France while the chassis and running gear were made at Citroen Cars, England at Slough. They used Rudge-Whitworth wire wheels and Lucas electrics. They were imported into Australia in Chassis/Cowl form and fitted with Australian made bodies. Sedans and Coupes bodied were by Flood Body Works in Melbourne while the tourers and roadsters were bodied by T.J. Richards in Adelaide, South Australia. This makes mine unique. To my thinking, the Australian bodies are more attractive than the European ones. I have owned "Rosie" for 36 years but often wonder what her future is. I am well into my 70's and the family are not interested in old cars. I do not use her for rallies now but enjoy going to fetes and displays with her.
