Overview

Produced: 1971-1978, 571 produced.
Types: Coupe, 2 doors(Sports Coupe)

Maserati added the mid-engined Bora to its range in 1971, difficult to believe as the car still looks modern even today. The Bora used a quad-cam V8 which produced 310bhp in its initial 4719cc form (1971-76), later cars (1976-78) used an even more powerful 4930cc unit which developed 320bhp.

The Bora had a pretty two door coupe body which housed the engine in the central position. The body was designed by Ital Design and made good use of glass, particularly in the tail/boot area. The Bora could easily exceed 160mph and certainly challenged other supercar manufacturers (including Ferrari) throughout the 1970's. Production ended in 1978 after a respectable 571 units.
