When Pontiac launched their GTO, Plymouth responded with the Road Runner. This car was based on the floor pan of a Plymouth Belvedere Satellite and had 6.3 or 7.2 litre V-8 engine which delivered 335 or 425 SAE. All the cars had a four-speed manual gearbox.
The 1973 Road Runner could reach a top speed in excess of 125 mph (200 km/hour) with its 7.2 litre V-8 engine which developed 425 SAE or 280 bhp.
