Autobianchi Bianchina

I acquired this car several years ago, but only recently began to restore it.  For the strickly stock person - well I will be a disappointment.  It is not being put back together as it was in 1960.  Todate it now has the Fiat 126 hubs and 600cc engine.  To put 126 hubs and drive train (5 speed transmission) required replacing the swing arms.  The 500N swing arms could not accept the increased size of the drive axel assembly.  The swing arm attaching bracket also had to be replaced with the 126 bracket due to bolt alignment problems.  Recently I purchased a nice wood steering wheel to be installed.  If there is a site here for photos I would be glad to keep a step by step photo record of its "restoration?".  I see I can put pictures with this, but will have to edit and insert later.

I have plans of lowering it 2-1/2 inches, putting disc brakes front and rear and nice wheels.  The Wheels are one of the reasons for the 126 hubs.  At present I have modified trailer wheels on it.

In general the car was in storage for so long that every operating mechanical and hydraulic part are being replaced.  Toward this goal I was amazed to find at least 10 suppliers from around the world able to supply any part of the ENTIRE car,  PLUS accessories.  The car was stored in a tobacco barn for a number of years and water got in on the floors causing both floors to be replaced. 

The steering wheel turned to powder, so it is being replaced with the one shown.  This is not bad considering that is the only major rust.  The rest of the body has only minor rust, easily cleaned and repainted.

Of the seats only one of the original seats remained and I lucked across seats from a van that fits the car and are very comfortable.
