A replacement for the short-lived 2500 arrived in 1972, the 2500M. Like the previous model the 2500M was aimed squarely at the important US market and so made use of the Federal specification Triumph TR6 engine and gearbox. The 2500M now featured a tubular backbone frame and all-independent coil suspension which improved ride and handling.
Other changes to the 2500M were primarily cosmetic and included the revised nose and tail sections of the GRP bodyshell. Despite having a longer wheelbase and overall exterior length the 2500M still only had interior space for two occupants.
