The engine options included the 1.3 L, 1.6 L and 2.0 L. The trim levels were now Base, L (for Luxury), XL (Xtra Luxury), GT (Grand Touring) and GXL (Grand Xtra Luxury). The MKIII was available in a 2-door coupe a 4-door saloon and a 4-door estate.

 The MkIII is known in many TV programs including  "Life on Mars" And "The Sweeney".
