Pushrod operated valves in detachable cylinder head. Deep-skirt cylinder block. Forged steel, three-bearing crankshaft. Tin-plated, aluminum alloy pistons. 3 high-pressure piston rings: top (compression) rings chromium-plated; middle (compression) rings 'Vauxided'. Offset piston pins. High-duty main and big-end bearings. Engine, clutch and gearbox built as one unit and mounted on 3 rubber insulators. Compression ratio: 7.0:1. High compression head for premium fuels 8.1:1. Maximum BHP (7.0:1) 52 @ 4000 RPM or (8.1:1) 56.3 @4600 RPM. Maximum torque lb. ft. (7.0:1) 81.7 @ 2400 RPM, (8.1:1) 85.6 @ 2200 RPM.

Fuel tank capacity 10 imperial gallons (12 US gallons, 45.5 litres).

Clutch--hydraulically operated. Single dry plate, dia. 7.25" (184.15 mm).

Gearbox--Three forward speeds and one reverse. Ratios: First 3.186:1, Second 1.635:1, Top=Direct, Reverse 3.050:1.

Optional 4 speed:

First 3.29:1, Second 2.130:1, Third 1.355:1, Top=Direct, Reverse 3.050:1.

Synchromesh on all forward speeds.

Rear axle--Semi-floating, hypoid final drive. Ratio 3.900:1 (Estate Car 4.125:1).

Brakes--Hydraulic, Composit brake drums 8" diameter.Hand brake operates mechanically on rear wheels only. Total breaking area 150.6 sq. ins. (971.6 cm2).

Steering--Wheel diameter 16". Steering gear ratio 13.5:1. Turning circle diameter--33'6" (10.21m).
