In 1948 the Nuffield group launched its all new, post-war range of cars. The mainstay of these new cars would be the Morris Oxford MO, Morris Six, Wolseley 6/80 and its smaller sister car the 4/50. The 4/50 (or Four/Fifty as it should be called) fell somewhere between the Oxford and six cylinder models, being powered by the Wolseley overhead valve, 1476cc, four cylinder engine.
The 4/50 shared the family bodystyle from the bulkhead backwards, resulting in a long-nosed, "big Morris Minor" appearance which looked strange from some angles. The 4/50 struggled to sell in any high quantities, perhaps due to its high cost of 703 pounds which made it only 64 pounds cheaper than the six cylinder 6/80. The 4/50 was quietly dropped in 1952 to make way for the more attractive 4/44.
