The Wolseley 1500 appeared in 1957 alongside its mechanically similar Riley 1.5 sister, both cars being the result of an ill-fated attempt to replace the Morris Minor. The 1500 used the Minor floorpan and torsion bar suspension layout which helped the cars chassis dynamics and road-holding ability.
The 1500 sold steadily until 1965, passing thru Series II and III developments along the way. The Wolseley 1500 had the usual front grille and badge treatment, many cars were finished in cheerful two-tone paint schemes which, along with well trimmed interiors, helped give these compact saloon cars an upmarket feel.
