A revised "Series II" version of the Morris Oxford appeared in 1954 introducing Morris buyers to the new BMC (Austin designed) B-series engine. This new engine meant that at last the Oxford could make use of modern, overhead valve technology providing reasonable performance for a family saloon.

The bodystyle of the Oxford Series II was completely different from that of the old MO Oxford, being much larger and substantial looking. Two body types were available a four door Saloon and a Traveller estate version. The Oxford continued to sell well up until its replacement, the Series III arrived in 1956.
