Singer SM1500

Overview
Produced: 1947-1954, 18666 produced.
Types: Saloon,4 doors,4 seats

In 1947 Singer unveiled its latest saloon model, the SM1500. The SM1500 looked very modern in 1947 predating the Ford Consul with its modern, "three box" styling which featured "slab sides". Despite its modern appearance the SM1500 had a separate chassis, although hydraulic brakes and independent front suspension were standard.

Underneath the bonnet of the SM1500 sat a 1525cc, overhead camshaft engine unique to Singer, from 1951 this unit was replaced by a redesigned 1497cc unit which was also available with twin carburettors. Despite over 18,500 examples of the SM1500 being built between 1947-54 of the car survives in very small numbers and is largely unknown.
