In 1953 Singer announced a brave new sports model based on its traditional Roadster model, the all fibre glass bodied SMX. The SMX owed its styling influences to the larger SM1500 model and looked very modern in comparison to the antiquated Roadster model.

As well as the GRP body the SMX also featured smaller road wheels and a larger fuel tank than the Roadster. Sadly the SMX project failed to make it to full scale production and only 12 examples were completed.
