The first truly new models appeared in late 1948. These were the Wyvern and Velox. Both had the same monocoque bodies of their predecessors but were now powered by 1,442 cc four-cylinder and 2,275 cc six-cylinder engines. The Wyvern was no fleet of foot with its weight of 2,178 lb (990 kg) and 1,442 cc/35 bhp motor. Its top speed was in the region of 62 mph(100kph). These did not remain on sale long as they were replaced in August 1951 by entirely new bodies with the wings incorporated within the body in the style of the big American cars.
