The Silver Cloud III succeeded the Silver Cloud II in 1962. Once again the car used the 6230cc V8 engine first seen in 1959, otherwise the Silver Cloud III made do with the by now, increasingly outdated mechanical servo brakes and other carry-over parts which dated back to the mid fifties.
The new Silver Cloud III differed externally from the previous cars, there was now a twin headlamp front with new front wings and a lower radiator with a tapering bonnet line. Other differences included slimmer bumper overriders to replace the earlier, "swan neck" overriders. A few cars were supplied for "special" coachwork, these included an elegant drophead coupe design offered by Mulliner Park Ward.
Eventually the Silver Cloud III was replaced by the more modern Silver Shadow, in 1965, in total 2044 cars had been built since 1962.
