The Maxi HL (High Line) was essentially a higher performance version of the standard 1750, offering 91bhp from its twin SU carb engine. The later HLS model arrived in 1979 and topped the range, both the HL and HLS models featured better trim than the basic Maxi models.
The Maxi 1750HL and HLS were built from 1973 until 1981 when production of Maxi models finished to make way for the Maestro range. If only these cars had been built and developed with more care, they could have been far more successful
