The Harrington Alpine used a heavily modified Roadster body fitted with a unique glass-fibre fastback roof. Series  A versions had a small boot lid directly below the fixed rear window, later Series  B cars had an opening hatch.

The Series A offered more interior space than the standard Alpine GT and was well finished inside and out. Some cars received specialist tuning which resulted in a power output of around 100bhp. Production of the Harrington Alpine Series A lasted only one year, the Series B took over in 1962. The Series B model gained a new upper half to the body which looked more integral than the earlier car. An overdrive gearbox was now standard equipment and was more in keeping with the overall long distance GT theme. External differences also included a new, full length chrome strip and many cars were equipped with wire wheels.
