Sunbeam launched its new, exciting, hybrid sports model the Tiger in 1964. This "wolf in sheep's clothing" model blended the Alpine bodyshell with an American Ford V8 engine normally found in the AC Cobra! In 1967 a Tiger II arrived which had a Mustang 289 (4727cc) V8. This 289 unit provided 200bhp and could propel the Tiger II to 125mph.

Rack and pinion steering ensured precise handling, an all-synchromesh four speed gearbox was standard which could be coupled to an optional limited slip differential. Improvements to the Tiger II included a new gearbox, an alternator, side stripes and a new front grille.
