Mercedes Benz 220 SE Cabriolet Only approximately 350 Merceds Benz 220 SE Cabriolets were hand built each year during 1958-1960. The 220 SE is equipped with a 2.2 liter overhead cam six-cylinder engine, Bosch mechanical fuel injection, and a four-speed manual transmission with shifter on the column. Top speed of 100 MPH can be attained and I frequently have her cruising at 70 MPH. She rides and tracks very well. I purchased this vehicle from the original owner who bought her in Germany while stationed there with the US Army and subsequently shipped her back to Connecticut where he drove her only in fair weather. During the late 1980's and early 1990's, he totally rstored the under-carriage and mechanics and cosmetically made numerous improvements. She is very presentable and can be driven anywhere (no off-road trips, please) without concerns for breakdown. I purchased the auto in 2001 and drove her from Connecticut to Texas in three days, with only a flat tire stopping me briefly! My spouse and I enjoy weekend drives in the Texas hill country and dhowing her off in Shriner Parades in Texas. A stop in one of the two local Mercedes Benz dealerships brings business to a halt as salesmen and servicemen come out to look her over!
