A further world -famous design was the Beta which was produced in a diverse range of versions, including the HPE or High Performance Executive which was a sort of sporting estate car, plus the Monte-Carlo, a sports coupe that was like a small Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer. Both cars were designed by Pinninfarina. The Beta was powered by a four-cylinder engine that was mounted transversely and slightly tilted forwards under the bonnet. The engines ranged from 1,297 - 1,995 cc and had double overhead camshafts.
