In 1977 a 5-door hatchback joined the 100 range; known as the 100 Avant, it was available with a 1986cc 5-cylinder diesel engine in addition to the petrol units. By the time the 100 was replaced in 1982, production had reached 948,114, a high figure for a relatively expensive car.
