The De Soto cars shared their bodies with Plymouth, Dodge and Chrysler but were much cheaper. The final pre-war car was made on 9 February 1942 and the first post war one in March 1946. Although the car had new doors, wings and bumpers it looked just like the 1942 model. The first post-war models were the Deluxe and Custom. The Deluxe had a 3,580 cc six cylinder engine of 96 bhp and a 117 in (2,970 mm) wheelbase.
