This was an upmarket version of the original Singer Bantam, from which the main improvements were a counterbalanced crankshaft and a four speed constant mesh gearbox i,e non synchromesh, and an optional free wheel device enabling some gearchanges to be made without using the clutch.

Engine originally 972 cc, later replaced by the 1074 cc three main bearing engine and three speed synchromesh gearbox, and modified steering linkage.  Braking changed from Lockheed Hydraulic to Girling mechanical.  Then known as "Bantam De Luxe" for 1938 season. Regarded as progenitor of the "Nine Roadster" series.
