Fiat thank fully replaced the Strada (Ritmo elsewhere in Europe) with the all-new Tipo in 1988. One of the biggest problems with the original, robot-built, Strada was its unenviable reputation for going rusty! The new Tipo came with a galvanised, five door, hatchback body.
As usual with Fiat a range of trim levels and engines were available for the Tipo including Petrol (1.1, 1.3 and 1.6 litre) and Diesel units (1.7 or 1.9 litre) and two high-performance petrol engines (1.8 and 2.0 litre.)
