Former BMC works driver Andrew Hedges and power-boat racer Tim Powell started building their own sports car in 1966, with the help of fork-lift truck makers Universal Power Drives. The new car was sold as the Unipower GT and used Mini Cooper running gear to great effect. Sales of the Unipower GT continued until 1970, around 75 cars were built in total.
