TVR Convertible Turbo

Overview
Produced: 1975-1979, 13 produced.
Types: Convertible,2 doors,2 seats

The 1972 3000M sat at the top of TVR's new "M" range of two seater sports coupes. The 3000M shared its sturdy chassis and purposeful styling with the 1600M and 2500M along with the same front disc/rear drum braking system.

Underneath the bonnet of the standard 3000M sat the venerable Ford Capri 3.0 litre V6 engine, this unit developed 138bhp which equated to a top speed of over 120mph. From 1975 a "Turbo" model was also available featuring a Broadspeed turbocharged V6 unit. This impressive unit developed 230bhp which meant a top speed of over 140mph and a sub-six second 0-60 time. Despite the cars extra power the 3000M Turbo retained the standard cars chassis and brake set-up!

From 1978 a new Convertible Turbo version was also available featuring a new purpose built bodyshell. The body retained the lines and proportions of the coupe, although it had to make do with sliding/removable side screens not unlike those found on early fifties roadsters!
