One of the most successful Mini-based specials of the 1970's was the Mini-Marcos, built by Marcos Cars from 1965 until 1975. The Min-Marcos used a combination of Mini mechanicals and a GRP two-seat coupe body. Engines started with the 848cc unit and moved onto 998cc, 1098cc and finally 1275cc derivatives.
Thanks to the light body and simple construction methods these small coupes had excellent performance and enjoyed racing success in club events around the UK. The Mini-Marcos has had a strong following ever since its initial launch in 1965, by 1992 over 1,000 examples of the original design had been built, some under-licence by Midas Cars.
