These new cars were initially only sold in Japan with exports not yet under way. This soon changed. An example of this is the Honda Civic which first appeared in July 1962 and was a huge success throughout the world. The Honda Civic replaced the N1300. It was 480 mm (19 in) shorter than its predecessor and the 1,169 cc engine "only" produced 60 bhp (SAE) at 5,500 rpm.
