Opel Senator/Monza

Hello,

I live in Essex, and for years I have owned and driven a 1978 3 litre automatic Opel Senator (since 1991?), and been extremely proud to do so.  Couldn't go anywhere 'incognito' even if I wanted to!!!

Sadly, and it is breaking my heart to do this, the time has come when I must get rid of my pride and joy.  I had to take the car off the road 3 years ago because of MOT failure, the idea always was that I would save up and have the car restored to original condition, but alas now that dream is out of reach.  We have just been blessed with three grandchildren in the last two years.

I have always been a member of the Vauxhall/Opel drivers club (and I still am!).

Mechanically the car is sound and reliable - never ever let me down for starting, even in the worst imaginable weather.  It is the bodywork that has failed it, although just before it was laid up it had brand new door sills and had both front springs renewed and new top mounting plates welded in on the drivers side front suspension (these came direct from Opel in Germany).

The car is 'Gold' with a gold velour interior.  It does not have air conditioning.

I have many, many spares (spare glass, seats, doors, steering column, electrical components, new exhaust, etc etc). It would be a dreadful shame to see it go to the breakers as I know that this vehicle is very rare in this country, and could well be considered as a restoration project for an enthusiast.

The off-side rear light was broken in a high wind storm by a runaway supermarket trolley (not mine). I came back to find it broken and was not very happy.

The milometer is showing genuine mileage and has not been round the clock.
The car has been in my family for many years and was owned by my Dad before myself, it was only about six years old when my Dad got it.

I have the rubber trim that is missing from the near side rear bumper. I also have the original Owners Handbook that came with the vehicle, giving all the technical specifications.
