Following the success of the M1 model, Allard launched a replacement, the M2X, in 1951. Like the M1, the M2X featured a four seater drophead coupe body with four seats and plush (in comparison to the other Allard models!) interior trim. The M2X could be distinguished by a new, rather elaborate front grille. The grille had a thick centre bar running across the centre. This unusual styling feature gave the grille the appearance of the letter "A".
The M2X now had a floor mounted gearchange (in place of the column change used in the M1) and the front suspension used coil springs. The M2X came with a choice of US V8 engines, although most UK cars used either Ford or Mercury units. Production of the M2X lasted until 1953, sadly only 25 were actually built.
