The 10HP saloon became a strong selling model in Austin's Wartime and post-war, family range of cars. Initially launched in 1939 the 10HP soon found itself being used by the armed forces in wartime Britain, its rugged design making this an ideal vehicle for use as a small staff car. Post-war the car continued essentially unchanged in production until 1947, by then its routes could be traced back to 1932!
The 10HP was powered by a 1125cc in-line sidevalve 4 cylinder, as can be expected, performance is quite leisurely!. The cars body was of a four door design with the Austin family grille design, which has transatlantic style. The 10HP's one modern concession is the rearward hinged bonnet (hood) design. In total 55,521 cars were produced before production ceased.
