Mini Cooper 998

Overview
Produced: 1964-1969, 55700 produced.
Types: Saloon

In 1967 the Mini Cooper recived the Mk II improvement in line with all other Mini variants. The Mk II Cooper featured the larger rear window, square grille and new tail lights, the 998cc engine remained unchanged. An all-synchromesh gearbox appeared in 1968 and radial tyres were also included as part of the Mk II package.

Despite the small capacity of its A-series engine the Mini Cooper Mk II still managed a respectable top speed of around 90mph. Production ended in 1969 when it was supposibly "replaced" by the less powerful, Clubman fronted Mini 1275GT.
