The cars remained virtually unchanged the following year until the 1949 models were introduced on 22 April 1948. The range now consisted of the Lincoln and Lincoln Cosmopolitan. These cars looked similar and had the same mechanical parts but the standard Lincoln had a 121 in (3,080 mm) wheelbase compared with the 125 in (3,180 mm) of its bigger stablemate. The V-12 engine had now been replaced by a more modern V-8 of 5,520 cc and 152 bhp and there was independent suspension at the front.
